Dr. Sertich is an Associate Professor-Clinical Educator in Reproduction at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She obtained a Master of Science in reproductive physiology at the University of Wyoming in 1979 and a VMD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983. Dr. Sertich completed a two-year large animal reproduction residency at the University of Pennsylvania in 1985 and became a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists in 1988. Currently Dr. Sertich is the Chief of the Section of Reproduction and Behavior at the University of Pennsylvania’s Widener Hospital for Large Animals at New Bolton Center. In addition to her general work in reproduction, Dr. Sertich has a special interest in periparturient mares, pregnancy loss, equine embryo transfer, reproductive surgery, transported semen, and mare management for optimal fertility. She works closely with the medicine clinicians who manage the neonates in the Moran Intensive Care Unit and serves as reproduction consultant for the high-risk pregnancy program and the broodmares in the Widener Hospital.
